10 Signs of Child Abuse!!

I saw this on Safe Horizon! 10 signs for you to know when your child is being abused!!

1) UNEXPLAINED INJURIES;
This include unexplained burns, bruises and sometimes bizarre, unbelievable stories as an explanation to the injuries.

2) CHANGE IN BEHAVIOUR;
Abused children may appear scared, anxious, withdrawn. The could be more aggressive, or may show over zealous attempts to please you (this is not a typical feature of a child).

3)REVERSAL TO EARLIER BEHAVIOURS;
Abused children may show behaviours seen in early ages. This could include bed-wetting, thumb-sucking, unnecessary fear of strangers. It may even cause so memory loss to the child.

4) FEAR OF GOING HOME;
Since it is a proven fact that child abuse is usually committed by those closest to the child, most of these children show some apprehension when it's time to go home or to the place where the abuser stays.

5) CHANGE IN EATING HABIT;
Because of the fear, anxiety or stress associated with abuse, it could lead to changes in eating habits. The child may begin to over eat or may eat less or nothing at all. Hence, weight gain or weight loss should be looked out for.

6) CHANGE IN SLEEP PATTERN;
An abused child may have more night mares, which would cause deprivation of sleep for the child. The child would appear tired and fatigued.

7) CHANGE IN SCHOOL PERFORMANCE;
With no sleep, fear and anxiety, the child would begin to perform abysmally in academic work.

8) LACK OF PERSONAL CARE OR HYGIENE
Abused or neglected children would appear uncared for. They may appear dirty with body odour, dirty school uniforms etc.

9) RISK TAKING BEHAVIOUR;
Young people who are being abused may take to the street; joining gangs, using guns and other associated vices.

10) INAPPROPRIATE SEXUAL BEHAVIOUR;
Children who have been sexually abused may exhibit overly sexualized behaviour, or use explicit sexual terms.
    This is not exhaustive. But if you notice this in your child, ward, baby brother or sister, then go see your Doctor.
